My world just turned around
it's inside out and upside down
I'm hanging on to everybit of now that I can find
as we drift closer to a closing time.

The eagle flies encircling all I know
I'm wondering how far up I'll have to go

I live in this shell for other people to see
and I honestly understand that it isn't worth it.
I'm at war with myself, I fight and resist
in this shell that is meant to seem perfect.

It's a culmination of things, it's this world that I've made
I win battles but in the end I am losing.
I deprive this body until it doesn't know what it wants
I think God must really find this amusing.

He must gag when he sees me upholding this lie
but once you lose it you never regain
the innocence that blesses each child that is born
just to be left with torment words can't explain

What word can you use when you feel broken and sabotaged
when the world you once dreamed of can never come true
I broke all the promises that little girl once made
that little girl is me no longer--she grew.

If I pour over proverbs, will It result in living them?
Can balance be sought through things that sound with ease to be true?
If I want to sing a song, do you promise I will always think of one to sing?
Oh yes, this world's advice rings...
And where you search for it, you will find the things you want to hear.

When I wanted spite, I found excuse.
For secrets lay unwhispered in corners until you want to hear them
when depressed souls find eachother

But wait! When love is what you're after, nothing else toils your heart.
A grand piano plays your tune, and there are roses buried everywhere.

We see the world through the things our heart bears
through pain or shame, through love or fame
if fearing or commanding
this is how we see the world.

I wonder where it comes from
The strength that brings joy
Inside my heart it swells
It grows and feels better everytime I go out of my way

I try to listen to the words of older generations
For I am just a child wrapped up
and still looking at this world in amazement
My eyes grow with wonder
and I think:
"Will I ever inspire anyone else to achieve greatness"

Within every moment, I will find it
Happiness, I think is a blessing that we bring upon ourselves.
But that we are all entitled to.

Keep telling the self-conscious girls they are beautiful
Eventually they will hear you

We're full of imperfection.
So I embrace the rawness of life
cut open on the table
Reading a newspaper and sipping coffee
out of a chipped green mug

I can look up out of my books and magazines
and chose to see shadows
or I can see the light
either way they both exist

We have the glamour
the airbrushed complexions and
perfect smiles. They seem happy.
And yet its those old black and white photos
that I can't keep my eyes off of.

She's standing barefoot outside
her hair messed up in a braid
and she looks like she's been having fun.
Her eyes have seen life
and they havn't lived anything near perfect.

It's those experiences that make her beautiful
And those eyes that tell me its going to be worth it.
In the end, your wishes do come true.
you'll be beautiful.
Just like you have been all the way.
